A Tropical Sunrise…

"Morning has broken..."

On the week of PNG’s 35th Independence anniversary I was in Manus – PNG’s northern-most province. In tourism terms, Manus could be the most lucrative gateway to the North. It is a maritme province with some of the most beautiful waterways and islands. It also has the Momote Airport which could easily be a hub for international air services to Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Guam (northern Marianas) and the west coast of the United States.

I decided that with the lovely bright sunny days there must be lovely sunrise too. So on the second morning, before anyone stirred in the neighbouring rooms, armed with my camera, I ran out of my room on the water’s edge…yes, jammies and all and took these shots of the sunrise. Now, aren’t these a fitting reward for any photographer – amateur or otherwise.

Lowtide...
The colours were awesome...
Dark silhouettes against the golden dawn...
The island directly across from the Harbourside Hotel, Lorengau
These posts are under water during the day...
The colours were changing ever so quickly.
"Visions of rapture burst in my sight..."
Simply awesome...God's creation
So peaceful...
Streaks of morning mauve...
Truly beautiful...
Nature awakes in mauves, yellows and tints of orange

All too soon I stopped snapping, tiptoed through the dewy lawn and back to slumber for another hour…

  1. Thank you Walt for the compliments. Yes, I had some more shut-eye after taking the pics but not for long. We had a busy programme that day participating in the weeklong Independence celebrations. Thank you for visiting my blog and for your comments.
