It seems to me that idyllic settings are not always the environment where I find myself but the state of mind where I’m at. Does that make sense? Anyway, this was how I felt when we visited 2Island Resort about just over a month ago. 2Island Resort is in Manus.
This is a project that no doubt will set the accommodation standard for guest houses in PNG as well as some of the hotels in large urban areas. I was taken by the serenity of the place and the comforts of a flush toilet indoors, shower etc.
This resort is a result of great collaboration between landowners and a developer of affordable, modern accommodation for those wanting to hang their hats in the tropics for a few weeks of R & R.
Now that is what I’d like to see. It makes living anywhere, home nowadays! Even on holidays in Papua New Guinea…the land of the unexpected.
After walking around the island, which takes about less than an hour, perhaps more like 45 minutes, one could rest their weary legs on under this big tree. With kulau (fresh green coconut drink) and soft sea breezes…well, heaven on earth.
I was really taken by the design of this resort. The design of the guest houses are in the style of local architectural structures you will find locally or anywhere in coastal PNG villages. The mod cons inside the bungalows are a real plus.
This place is a must see and I wouldn’t mind returning to spend a few days here in a few months. The resort is work in progress but already promises to be an up and coming compelling place to visit in PNG. What with these kind of views.
How about kicking off those snickers and walking your tired, sweaty feet along here…
