It’s kind of different if not weird. Empty skies. It felt really strange when I was looking out of my window skywards today and could not see a single white trail of a flying aircraft. There were no sounds of large aircraft coming in to land at London Heathrow, and no helicopters flying around either. The whole place has shut down…aviation-wise.
It’s kind of weird also thinking of all those demonstrators against another runway at London Heathrow who didn’t want another runway and now something like this…an act of God, a force majeure has closed the airports and grounded aircraft, so what is the argument now?It seems kind of irrelevant now to argue whether to have or not to have another runway at London Heathrow ’cause nature has completely invalidated that argument and counter-argument. Has this act of God completely blown the reason for or against another runway at London Heathrow out of the water?
I must say as human beings we have been spewing smoke and gunk at nature and so now when nature spews back, well, it is hard on us, isn’t it. We are at the mercy of this Icelandic volcanic erruption which goodness knows when it will be over. I have never ever experienced anything like this. One of my best friends says it seems kind of apocalyptic. Hey, but the good news is that it’s been sunny and warmer these past few days. I haven’t seen the bright red/orange sunsets but I’m sure others have.
I don’t know what is normal for London…blue skies without white jet trails and deafening sounds of aircraft or white jet trails and deafening sounds. The only things flying around nowadays are birds…now that is always normal.
